What goes into an eCommerce web site

Start at the beginning

For a web project to be successful, the site designer(s), developer(s) and customer(s) have to work together as a team. And that starts with everyone knowing what is involved and who is responsible for tasks. Our customers have launched successful eCommerce web sites because they have worked hard with us. Rimini Software manages the project making sure information arrives and sign offs are done in the right order and on time.

Customers spend most of their time writing content for the web site. This includes product descriptions, content pages (about us, etc), keywords, descriptions, and more. If you have a lot of relevant content, that will help your store.

Here is a high level list of the steps involved in setting up a PDG Commerce web site.

  1. The Site Survey
Will your existing computer hardware and operating system support an eCommerce solution? The computer running QuickBooks must be robust (Rimini is a reseller of HP business machines and we have a a list of recommended models with solid hardware for a very reasonable price). Your Quickbooks file will need to be reviewed to make sure it is setup to be compatible with an online store. We highly recommend having your company file inspected by our Quickbooks Pro Adviser to make sure your file is setup correctly for your business as well. Your computer network will need to be secure and capable enough to support the solution.
  2. Web Site Design
Based on your input, Rimini will design a web site using the latest standards. Rimini hosts the development site so you can review it at any time. Once you are satisfied with the design, we freeze the design so we can then move on to the next steps.
  3. PDG Install and Setup
Rimini Software makes setup of PDG easy because we have created custom tools to speed up the import of your products and descriptions. Rimini will install PDG and configure the shipping rules, e-mail notifications, SSL, and payment gateways. We also setup the PDG templates to be the same design as the rest of your store. Rimini will show you how to manage your products in the PDG Admin tool.
  4. Content and Training
If you have your content written and organized, Rimini will place that content into your web site and add/configure the navigation to those pages. The way we setup each web site, it is easy to add pages. We will add up to 20 pages at no additional charge. And we will provide training and software to you so you can make modifications to existing pages or add new content pages.
If you have a special request, we can likely accommodate it.
